After 5 days in Esfahan, we waved good-bye to the most generous couple we’ve ever satisfied in our lives. just hours later the wheels of the airplane were lifting off as well as we were flying to Tabriz (that’s right we flew… only $40 each!). We shown up around midnight as well as took a taxi to our hotel where we inspected in as well as passed out.

As the end to our outstanding experience was growing near, we were less thinking about “seeing the sights” as well as more thinking about just enjoying the bit things in life that make travel so wonderful. We slowly sauntered around the central fete (the largest covered fete in the world), as well as did a bit bit of Christmas buying as well as hard-core bargaining.

We satisfied our driver as well as headed out on the road. The drive to Kandovan was almost as gorgeous as the village itself, with the highway winding with hills as well as desert valleys. As we approached the bit town we might see a little skiff of snow on the mountains in the backdrop not extremely far from where we were! winter is approaching Iran as well as our walk around Kandovan was a chilly one.

We shown up in Tehran early in the morning as well as inspected into our gorgeous hotel, Golestan. Our space was extremely nice with a gorgeous view of the Damavand as well as Alborz mountains that fringe the chaotic capital. We figured we were quite lucky to see as far as the mountains in one of the most polluted cities on earth so we instantly went out on the town to enjoy the remove sunny weather.

We headed out for lunch as well as then on to the American Embassy, the site of the Iran hostage crisis of 1979. Today, the building is not only a “den of espionage” however it is now likewise house to some quite impressive anti-American graffiti. We snapped a couple of pictures to show right here however we had to be cautious since these photos are technically unlawful (you see the dangers we take running Goats On The Road?).

After the embassy we headed over to the national jewel museum which homes a bewildering collection of jewlery from the previous Shahs (Iranian kings). There were countless rubies, diamonds as well as emeralds set in the strangest assortment of daily devices. One king had his horses laden in diamonds, even the sound on the horses tail was covered in valuable gems. You understand you’re rich when you can let your equine crap on a few of your jewels!

Preparing To go to London… Back To The “Real World” Soon.

Our time in Tehran came to an end as well as with it the end to this outstanding adventure. We had travelled from China to Iran, with central Asia on on of the most legendary overland journeys the world has to offer. We “slept” in the flight terminal the night before our flight as well as as the airplane lifted off, we were as well tired to recognize exactly how profound this trip had been, however we understood it was over as we fell asleep. Our true feelings about the trip didn’t surface up until we returned to Canada. more about that later…
